Wheel of Existential Practice for Professional Certification


The Wheel of Existence is a framework for understanding how existential philosophy is located in practice. Since its creation in 1997, the Wheel has gradually evolved into formats that can be applied to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy, coaching, mediation, supervision and group leadership


2 year pathway to certification comprising:

  • Foundation 3 day course - overview of philosophy, philosophers, major current practitioners and experiential components
  • Intermediate 3 day course - deepening and challenging theory and practice
  • Advanced 3 day course - advancing theory and practice
  • 16 hours of group practice
  • 10 hours of supervision
  • 2 assessments

Grief and Loss image

Grief, Loss & Bereavement Training for Professional Certification - NEW!

This training pathway is suitable for counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and social workers who have 3 years or more experience in the field post-training and who want to work in the field of grief, loss and bereavement. The focus of the training is to equip practitioners with the proficiencies to help people live with and integrate experiences of death, loss and change into their ongoing lives and on the development of the skills, competencies and ways of 'being with' that are required. This is, currently, Australia's only existentially-informed training program in grief, loss and bereavement.

An 18 month pathway to certification, comprising:

  • Foundation 5 day course - exploration of ived experiences and theory around change, loss and grief and creation of a 'safe space'
  • Advanced 5 day course - combining theory, practice wisdom and understanding around engagement with the reality of the life changes and potential for growth that grief brings
  • Both courses encompass 9 hours of practice sessions - 3 hours across 3 days - for a total of 18 hours
  • Written assessment at end of each course and 1 final written assesment (total of 3)

Supervisor Training

Supervisors

 

Wheel of Supervision for Professional Accreditation

2 year pathway to fulfill current and future training requirements for accreditation with PACFA, AAOS and ACA, comprising:

  • Part 1 - 5 day course - understanding the role of Supervisor and theoretical underpinnings across various models
  • Part 2 - 5 day course - extending and deepening of themes with case scenarios across a variety of client groups
  • 16 hours of small supervision practice groups
  • 15 hours of supervision-on-supervision (SOS)
  • Written assessments as required by relevant association
  • Supervisor practice as required by relevant association

Group Supervision image

Group Supervisor Training for Professional Certification - NEW!

This training pathway is suitable for practising supervisors in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, coaching, social work or similar disciplines who are seeking to expand their supervisory skills and competencies to supervising in a group format. The focus of the training is on the transition from working as an individual supervisor to working as a group supervisor and on the development of the skills and competencies required.

18 month pathway to certification comprising:

  • Foundation 3 day course - transitioning from individual supervisor to group supervisor
  • Advanced 3 day course - working with emerging challenges of the group environment
  • 24 hours of group supervision practice
  • 1 written assessment for each level

Group Leader Training

Group Leader

 

Wheel of Group Leadership for Professional Certification

This training pathway is suitable for those who have completed training in counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, social work or similar and who are seeking to obtain or enhance skills in group leadership. The focus of the training is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the theory and applied practice of group leadership in a facilitated and experiential learning environment.

12 to 18 month pathway to certification comprising:

  • Foundation 4 day course - Group facilitation training for time-limited groups - such as psycho-education and task-focused
  • Advanced 4 day course - Group leadership training for long-term groups where the primary emphasis is on therapeutic change
  • Each level includes 6 hours of practice groups
  • 1 written assessment for each level
